What Rugby means to the Dings

What Rugby Means To Dings

From our humble home in Lockleaze we are proud to hold dear many values that have long since gone from our beloved game.

Many of our peers only see their future as attaining the ‘Holy Grail’ of Rugby in the professional era: a place in the premiership, a chance to knock on the door of the elite: the opportunity to play at the highest level that money can buy.

It would serve them well to remember that it can also be the demise of their beloved club, with great names left floundering when wealthy sponsors walk away.

At Dings, we hold on to the best of the amateur days: the Corinthian Spirit. Some may see this as old fashioned or lacking in ambition, but whilst we maintain these values, our loyal club members, who have stayed with us through good and bad time will continue to support us.

At Dings we measure success in these ways:

• To play at the highest level, whilst maintaining the integrity of the club.

• To give every player the best coaching available, and to encourage all to reach their full potential.

• To teach young player about the fun of sport, not only rugby skills, but also discipline, comradeship and
team work that that will benefit them in later life.

• To be proud to say they are a ’Dings man’.

• To give respect to each visiting team, but to never take a step backwards, and let them know that coming
Lockleaze will never be easy, no matter what they might believe!

• To Show our opponents and visiting supporter our warmest hospitality and for them to leave remembering
what it is like to come to a real rugby club.

• To ensure all players, helpers, supporters and sponsors always remember that we are all one team.
