Dings Crusaders RFC National League Three South Saturday 15th November 2008 Dings 33 Bridgwater 24 For the second week running Dings left it very late to secure the points as they took this tough well contested derby match with two tries in the final minutes to deny Bridgwater even a bonus after they had led 21-12 twelve minutes into the second half and 24-19 with just two minutes left. Dings were first on the score sheet with a penalty from stand off Adam Westall after twelve minutes after the visitors strangely refused two kickable penalties in the first five minutes. With the game littered with unforced errors both sides went close in the first quarter with Dings chances perhaps the better but it was Bridgwater next on the score sheet with a good try for full back Louis Messer. Stand off Luke Cozens found centre Elisara Tito with a long miss pass, he fed wing Sam Osborne who slipped the ball inside to Messer for the score, Cozens added the conversion. Dings regained the lead with two penalties from Westall in the last five minutes of the half for 9-7 to Dings at halftime. The visitors regained the lead within a minute of the second half restart when stand off Cozens fielded a poor clearance kick from Dings and broke left to feed wing Alex Lloyd for a try, Cozens converted for 14-9 to Bridgwater. Westall reduced the arrears for Dings with a penalty on forty-nine minutes but two minutes Bridgwater were over the try line again when flanker David Kimberley charged down a Westall clearance for a try converted by Cozens and a lead of 21-12 to the visitors. Dings comeback started on the hour mark when quick thinking scrum half Neil Dipple took a quick tap penalty to score from 10 metres out with Westall adding the conversion to cut the arrears to two points. Cozens added a penalty for Bridgwater four minutes later but it was Dings who produced the grandstand finish to take the points. With the clock running down Dings forced a series of penalties on the Bridgwater line and after electing to take scrums the referee had no option but to award a penalty try after the third collapse by the visitors, Westall converted to give Dings a two point lead. Immediately from the kick off Dings centre Luke Plummer seized on a dropped ball by Bridgwater’s Cozens and hacked on for a try converted by Westall right on the final whistle.
